The Mission Of Group 2, Civil Air Patrol, Is To Maximize The Effectiveness Of Every Minute Contributed By Our Volunteer Force By Providing The Timely And Quality Training And Resources Required To Perform Emergency Services In Times Of Peril To Our Local Community, The State Of Florida, And The Nation; By Guiding And Nurturing The Leadership Potential Of Our Nation’s Youth; By Cultivating The Significance Of Aerospace Power Among The Populous And By Recognizing And rewarding Our volunteers for their dedication and efforts.  

 

 

The Florida Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Wing always remains ready to assist in local emergencies. Since the recent hurricane (Mathew) areas of Florida were hit with destructive winds and rain. In order for the Governor’s office to provide information to FEMA, several CAP squadrons in Florida were activated. The mission of identifying the areas needing assistance was completed by the CAP officers and cadets. This was done by using CAP aircraft equipped with sophisticated cameras and taking photos of the areas. The CAP members are all volunteers and the aircraft and equipment was provided by the United States Air Force. See the news report here.
